Final Draft submitted

Hi everybody

This is the final draft that has been submitted to the ISO technical committee this weekend. I tried to consider your advice as best as I could. Many thanks for all of you for your contributions.

Of course we are open for further comment and improvements. We will forward your propositions to the technical committee.

Best regards, Erwin

Hi everybody. Here's the changelog to the final draft that has been submitted:

- Resolving of typos, contradictory statements and mistakes the contributors found

- Change in terminology and opening up the recommendation:

  1. The term Mandatory has been changed to Required (Required tags are all that are already required in TIFF 6.0 Baseline)
  2. The term Forbidden was split up into Not Recommended and Problematic
    • Not recommended means it is complicated but it will be supported for the time being because it is well documented and widely used
    • Problematic means it has been deprecated for a long time, it is not documented or it relates to raw files
  3. Optional stays Optional but there will be subcategories recommended or non recommended

- There has also been added a list of features (tags and or tag values) that are regarded as problematic an we recommend conversion to not problematic features in due time

- There has been added also an informative evaluation of existing TIFF tags and values in Swiss archives

Up to now we only analysed the tag 259 Compression in debth. The next steps of the evaluation will focus on more tags as 262 and others. The analysis should show which color models are used in TIFF files.

Best regards, Erwin
